Composition Types

Ben Heine (Pencil vs. Camera)

Johan Thörnqvist  (Hand Altered Photos)

Take an original photograph to alter for our color pencil project/problem.
Take photo with DRAlter concept in mind.  Submit photo via gmail, flash drive, or bring in camera.

Remember what you've learned about composition.  Consider using format:

  1. Leading Lines
  2. Rule of Thirds
  3. Framing the Scene
  4. Cropping
  5. Vantage Point
  6. Non-Distracting Background
  7. Symmetry
  8. Repetition & Patterns
  9. Shifting Horizon (out of middle of frame) Low or High
  10. Consider Best Lighting & Time of Day (mood you wish to communicate)
We'll alter your image in Adobe Photoshop to make it black & white & reduce the opacity/make it more faded.  Then I'll copy them onto heavy drawing paper and we'll begin to make drawn color additions.
